Further information on Exe Valley U3A and how to join in:

How to join:

Simply turn up at one of our Monthly Meetings - we would love to see you. We will add your name to our members list, give you a Newsletter and introduce you to other members.

Members currently pay an annual subscription of £10 (single) or £20 (couple) which entitles them to attend our Monthly Meetings and join any of the Interest Groups.

Alternatively you can download the application form by clicking the link on the Welcome page, and after completing it, bring it along to one of our Monthly Meetings, or mail(enclosing a cheque) it to the address shown on the form.

If you would like further information, please call Jill Riddiford (Membership Secretary) on 01884-258091 or use the Contact Form page on this website.

What happens in our Monthly Meetings:

We meet every month on the Third Wednesday of the month.

We meet at Cherith Centre, Tiverton

The doors open at 1.30 for members and we start the meeting at 2.00 prompt, so please try to be there before 1.45 as there is often a queue to get in!

We make a small charge of £2.00 to cover our meeting expenses.

The meetings normally take the form of a Presentation by a Guest Speaker (sometimes an Exe Valley U3A member), and follow-up questions, which takes approximately an hour.

Previous presentations have been as varied as "Birds that overwinter on the Exe Estuary" and "Tiverton's Place in The Universe".

After that we have tea or coffee with a biscuit or two and simply chat amongst ourselves, or with the guest presenter, until we finish the meeting at about 3.30 - 3.45 and then clear up.

PS. Help is always wanted to set up the room, make the teas and clear up so volunteers are very, very welcome. Please arrive at 1.00 to help.

How to join an Interest Group:

You can also talk to us about joining one or more of our Interest Groups. These are run by the members, for the members. Each group is self managed, but runs within U3A guidelines, and could have as few as 3 or 4 members or as many as 30. Please click on the Groups tab above for further information.

Tiverton has two active U3A groups, ourselves and Tiverton U3A. We have a close and friendly relationship with the Tiverton U3A and both organisations allow members to join any of the others interest groups- provided they are not full.
